Summer Camps - 2013  At the E.D.G.E.

It does our heart good to see our campers run to each other and dance merrily around when they see each other at...the mall?!  Promise!  It happens more often than you think.  For 50 years, campers have been making relationships that last.  Even today, camper alums say that the Pinecrest friends are the ones they still know from their childhoods.  What a gift!

So.  Our campers climb trees, play PPMD (official camp night game), sing about little green frogs, tie-dye, shoot archery, ride bikes, swim in our huge pool, eat great food (even when their parents say they won't), cheer at Minute to Win It, play Barbarians, hike, learn more about God, and make s'mores.  And they make friends.  What more could you want from a week at summer camp?

This year, our theme is 'At the E.D.G.E.' Experiencing and Discovering God Everywhere.  We'll use all 40 acres to see what all God has made for us.

Check out the 2013 camps:

Certification Week gives campers knowledge they need to work as a camp counselor (LIT), baby sitter (Safe Sitter), or swimming/Aquatics.  Campers choose one of the following to attend:

LIT (Leaders in Training for 15-17 yr olds) prepares older youth to work at Pinecrest and other camps and gives important life skills. Campers always tell us they’re coming back as counselors, so we decided to help them down that road. Learn the leadership and people skills necessary to being a counselor and the hands of Christ at Pinecrest.
Safe Sitter®  (for 11-15 year olds) prepares pre-teens and teens for the profound responsibilities of nurturing and protecting children.  Last year's campers found lots of babysitting jobs and reported that they were up to the task!
Aquatics Camp (for kids at least 2nd grade)  Aquatics Camp teaches the strokes!  Get used to the water, learn new swimming skills, or get more comfortable with what you already know.  Bring a couple of bathing suits; there's lots of pool time.
LIT and Safe Sitter campers will receive American Heart Association CPR, First Aid, and AED training (certification as necessary).

Mini-Campers may be brand new to camping. They sleep in our cabins and have wonderful counselors who are highly trained to ensure their safety and make their days at camp very fun and successful. Almost all of our mini-campers can’t wait to come back for a whole week a year later. Second week added for 2013!

Discovery Campers enjoy traditional camp fun and get to choose some of their favorite activities. Our camp days start with Huddle and small groups – time for campers to sing, hear some great Bible stories, study and reflect on God’s word. Then, it’s on to fun and games! At night, our recreation staff and counselors cook up something special – night games, barn parties, campfires… Campers gain a bit more choice and freedom in choosing their activities each year.

Middle School Campers think of Pinecrest as their own. Some of them have been here before and know the ropes. If not, it gives campers a great chance to share the Pinecrest traditions that make going to camp fun. More in-depth small group times and more advanced activities (last year, we traveled to Shiloh and road bikes – in the rain!), ensure that Middle School Camp is a top summer memory.

It's ART; it's a PARTY...for creative campers who see cool creations in daily living.  Food, paper, architecture, theater, music...nothing's safe from our creative juices.  And while we really like God's Eyes, there's so much more to make and do!

Like to stay up late? See if you can hang at Night Owl Camp. These hardy souls stay up later each night and wake up later each day. Then it’s Up All Night full of scavenger hunts, games, cooking, and other nightly pursuits on the last night. Campers sleep all the way home.

Trip Camps build community! Every 3 years, the PCUSA hosts Youth Triennium at Purdue University, and it's a game-changer.  Great speakers, music, and recreation as well as small groups give space to connect to God and other youth from around the country.  Plenty of back-home time with our group ensures that our group grows close. Register REALLY early for this one, please.

Outdoor Challenge Camp fills up first!  Travel to E. TN and N. Carolina to take on ropes course, rappelling, caving, white-water rafting and more.  You'll stay in cabins some and in tents some.  Outdoor Challenge makes a life-time memory!

Please call for information on any of our camps.  There's not enough room to tell you all the great stuff.   (901.878.1247)
